Happy Labor Day! I hope everyone is having a relaxing + enjoyable long weekend. Although Labor Day marks the end of wearing white for some (I love white year round), to me it is always an unfriendly reminder that cold weather is right around the corner. This reminder is usually further teased by all the amazing labor day sales! Shopping at this time of year is always a challenge; summer staples are typically on sale the most, but peppered in with really cute fall pieces that I always cave for. Whatever I shop for, I try to think about how I can wear it now, but also in the colder weather. Here are 5 tips I’d think through to convert this look and ways to convert similar pieces in your wardrobe.
1. Layer your top + try a cowl neck/over sized sweater
2. Invest in thick tights
I usually go to Free People or Anthropology for lined tights in the winter, but this option is good for in between times for under your favorite skirts and dresses.
3. Throw on this fall’s newest boot style with tights and your favorite skirt
4. Update your hat’s material to something warmer like wool and choose structured shape
5. Rock a red lip with your paler skin—but switch the undertone from a coral base to a blue base
Christian Louboutin just started making make up, so if you’re able to splurge on a guaranteed electric red pout, check it out here. I also really liked reading up on what designers did with red pouts for fall here.
